2015 EVESHAM WOOD PINOT NOIR
'LA GRIVE BLEUE'
$25.99 BTL./$311.88 CASE

La Grive Bleue is a 2-acre plot from famed Eola-Amity producer Evesham Wood’s Estate vineyard planted in 1996. As time moved on, this wine was elevated into its own cuvee and reveals excellent distinction and pedigree. Frankly, this is a steal for 26-bucks.

2015 was a warm vintage but due to cool nights in the Eola Hills, this vintage favored this region’s wines. Typically done without bombastic or over-the-top heavy qualities, the newest Grive Bleue Pinot displays darker notes up front with underlying cassis, rose, cedar, violet and a kiss of a minty aspect. This beautiful pinot has superb depth of flavor, ripe pure berry notes and wonderful balance and is a wine that will take you from salmon to lamb to roasted chicken and mushroom risotto. Drink through 2025.

2013 TRIMBACH RIESLING
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

The adulation for Trimbach’s wines from Alsace is much deserved, top to bottom the wines range from the very solid and high performing and are absolute benchmarks of Alsace. One of the big statements that Trimbach has always made is that they want to have their wines distinguished as DRY and great fodder for gastronomic delights.

The classic version from Trimbach is one of our absolute favorite gateway drugs into the world of pure, unadulterated, dry Riesling. With more refinement and zip than the delicious 2012, the 2013 is bursting on the nose with flint and kaffir lime. Waves of mineral, even more lime, and terrific cut in the mouth. So pure, so clean, so long, and utterly refreshing and accessible, especially with a spicy Pad Thai dish. In the future will gain in weight and complexity and will be a perfect match with traditional pork choucroute. Drink now -2021.

2015 BURLOTTO BARBERA D'ALBA
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Based in the Barolo village of Verduno, the house of Burlotto was the pioneer of selling Barolo in bottle versus selling in cask (akin to a French Domaine and commonplace today) before Italian unification in 1860. These days the estate is regarded as one of the devout traditionalists and more and more recognition continues to flow from all aspects of media and wine lovers. In fact, Antonio Galloni scored one of their yet-to-be-released 2013 Barolo wines 100 points!

I tasted this Barbera a few weeks back and was conviced that this estate is killing it throughout their entire roster of wines. With this Barbera hailing from Verduno, unlike its brethren from Castiglione, Serralunga and Monforte, this expression is less minerally and earth-driven and focuses more on its sleek fruit and stylish texture. Superbly aromatic with spice, anisette, porcini and absolutely pleasurable juicy red fruits. Supple, round and giving with cocoa driving to an elevated and textbook, Barbera finish. This is the perfect red for all occasions with grilled, braised and roasted fare.

2013 MARTHOURET SAINT-JOSEPH BLANC
$21.99 BTL./$263.88 CASE

Over the past four years we have been touting the wines from Pascal Marthouret, a former mechanic turned vigneron. Saint Joseph, the patron saint of scorned husbands, more known for its red wines, however the appellation is planted to and produces about 10% of white wines.

Pascal Marthouret’s offering is a blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne and is one hell of a gem! Now almost 4 years old, there are some lovely secondary notes starting to come forth with this generous French white wine. Exciting fragrance, purity and detail of both varietal and the granitic soils. Ginger-spiked pear scents, shortbread, anise and mineral follow through to a texture that possesses richness combined with zestiness and a thought-provoking inner intensity that carries over to the palate sweeping finish. Bust out the butter and cream sauce for this full-flavored white wine. Drink over the next 5-7 years with fowl or fish done with intense preparations.

2016 CELLER PARDAS SUMOLL 'SUS SCROFA'
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

A show of hands, who has ever had a wine made from 100% of the Sumoll grape? Thought so. A native grape to Spain’s Catalonia region, it’s human nature to want to compare things and the best way thjat I would describe this wine is that it is like drinking Catalan Dolcetto. Maybe.

Celler Pardas has been one of our favorite producers in the Penedes over the last several years and this is the first time that we have offered the 100% version of the red wine. Sus Scrofa is the Latin term for wild boar and this offering is plucky, mouthwatering delicious and from 60+ year old vines. Direct, qualities of deep blueberry, cranberry and subtle minerality. Loads of gorgeous, dry-berry fruit in the mouth give way to a finesseful characteristic that is is very versatile for food pairings. Drink this superb red with smoked meat, sausage, serrano ham or a cheeseburger.

2012 BREZZA BAROLO
SPECIAL - $31.99 BTL./$191.94 - SIX PK

An ultra-traditional producer based in the village of Barolo all of the grapes for this wine come from these hallowed slopes. Since the late 90s, Enzo Brezza has been on fire and right now, even at their regular prices, they are much undervalued given their impeccable quality.

Violet, tar, subtle spice and earth tones dominate the highly aromatic nose with ripe red fruits and a bit of a rustic note that is showing at this youthful stage. The apparent minerality and super-long finish show that this tightly wound pup will age well into the next decade. Drink late 2018 through 2024+.

2015 ANDREW WILL CABERNET SAUVIGNON COLUMBIA VALLEY
$31.99 BTL./$383.88 CASE

Andrew Will's Chris Camarda is a Washington legend who makes extremely age-worthy wines. A few years back, Chris created the "black label" wines that give a superb experience of what this cat has to offer for a fine price. No, they will not live as long as the single vineyard blends but they are perfect 8-10 year wines to drink while you wait for the big wines.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon and only 292 cases produced, this Washington Cab is scintillating even at a youthful stage. The 2015 has a nose of chocolate and nutmeg finished off with mild cedar spice. On the palate, juicy black cherry fades to plum and cassis, melded with coffee and dark chocolate following through to a very poised, yet layered and structured finish. Overall, this is a well-crafted, integrated Washington Cab coming from a top maker, apex vineyard sources and will easily age through 2025. However, this wine is so damn irresistible right now that it can be popped and poured with a grilled steak.

2013 QUINTA DOS CURRAIS TINTO
BIERA INTERIOR
$8.99 BTL./$107.88 CASE

Portugal’s red wines represent remarkable values and this particular version from the Biera Interior district is one such selection. Made from Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Castelao and Rufete. Unlike many other wines in this price point, this hearty, full-flavored winner stands on its head then does a touchdown dance!

Broad plum and blackberry cobbler scents that are touched nicely by vanilla and coffee follow into a packed texture that is flavorful and appealing. Vivid strawberry flavors arrive on the finish to add lift and bring everything together all in a smoothed-out package. A terrific, above average everyday wine to drink on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
