2017 REYNEKE 'VINEHUGGER' RED
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

89% Syrah/11% Cabernet Sauvignon A delicious new arrival from South Africa’s Western Cape, this organically farmed red wine pleases on so many levels. Presenting a myriad of aromas, plum and cassis notes minge with meaty, mineral and earth nuances. The palate delivers all of this in a multi-layered silky package. It is certainly a full wine, but with focus and poise, designed to seduce rather than assault the senses. A very food friendly offering, use it with a range of cuisine from more traditional meat dishes through to an Italian-inspired tomato sauce or a plate of nice cheeses.

2017 REYNEKE 'VINEHUGGER' WHITE
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

100% Chenin Blanc
The sibling in this line of wines is quite an electrifying dry white wine. Located a mere 20 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean, this wine, made with South Africa’s seemingly spiritual white grape tantalizes the senses. Totally dry, this wine is permeated with seashells, lanolin, quince and pronounced red apple tones. Plenty of intense flavors with a swath of fruit and mineral that touches the entire palate. A balanced number that really turns on the jets with a standup, long finish. Perfect for a white wine sipper, but serious enough to pair with spicy shrimp dishes or mussels.

2016 RIDGE GEYSERVILLE
$44.99 BTL. - 24 btls available
95 POINTS - VINOUS

73% Zinfandel, 17% Carignane, 7% Petite Sirah, 3% Alicante Bouschet. Like Lebron James who is still the baddest ass in the NBA, Ridge is still the baddest ass when it comes to Zinfandel. Even more impressive is this special, single vineyard blend now has a fat 95-point score from Vinous...and we have 24 btls to work with. Be quick, especially if you like Ridge the way we do!

‘The 2016 Zinfandel Geyserville is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Beams of supporting tannin and acidity give the 2016 its distinctly virile, imposing personality. Black cherry, graphite, lavender, and spice are all laced throughout. Deceptively medium in body, the 2016 packs a serious punch. It also needs at least a few years in bottle to settle down, as the tannins are quite imposing, There is a purity to the 2016 that is absolutely striking. Drink 2022 – 2036. – 95 POINTS – VINOUS

2010 CH. LES HAUTS CONSEILLANTS
LALANDE DE POMEROL
[reg. $51.99]
SPECIAL - $27.99 BTL./$335.88 CASE

Chateau Les Hauts Conseillants is a stalwart Chateau in the Lalande de Pomerol region that lies just north of the hallowed ground of Pomerol that is defined by two villages, Lalande and Neac. Les Hauts Conseillants has six hectares in the sandy/clay section of Neac along with four hectares in the gravelly outcrop with small amounts of clay in Lalande. This often leads to very masculine versions of this area that age quite beautifully.

2010 is a glorious and very voluptuous Bordeaux vintage and this wine performs way above expectations. Deep and youthful flavors and aromas of violet, blackcurrant, sweet red pepper and a hearty meatiness that leads on to a rich, full-bodied palate with fine tannins and a cherry infused cocoa spice that lingers beautifully in the mouth. Chateau Les Haut Conseillant's Lalande de Pomerol is textbook right-bank juice with the finesse and grip of something more expensive. At age 8, this wine is just starting to come into its own. Accessible now with decanting, however there is no problem to age it even further as it will easily go another 6-8 more years.

2016 REBEL.LIA TINTO
UTIEL REQUENA
$11.99 BTL./$143.88 CASE

From just outside Valencia in the Utiel-Requena region, Rebel.lia is a blend of the local Bobal grape combined with splashes of Tempranillo and Garnacha Tintorera is quite the head turner for 10 bucks! Direct aroams and flavors permeating of dark chocolate, Asian spice, red, black and blue berries coat the palate with roasted earth and good structure to add a level of intrigue. Utterly enchanting with soulful fare from barbecued ribs to paella.

In case you're wondering about the name of this wine, the back label says it all: "Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and rebellion." - Oscar Wilde

2017 GIRLAN PINOT GRIGIO
$13.99 BTL./$83.94 - SIX PACK

It’s back with a new vintage and with a blazing special price! The quality says that this wine should run closer to $20 (which when front-lined, it does) however at 14 this is a smashing steal. Girlan is a very well run operation and one now that is into the stratosphere of Alto Adige producers. This is a Pinot Grigio that is definitely not boring. If you love this grape varietal, we cannot urge to more to jump all over this excellent value.

With its almost quartz-like aromas, this wine keeps inviting you back for more. Impeccable apple-spice fruit and a nice touch of mineral and mushroom permeate from the glass. The texture is creamy, but also seemingly very crystallized with serious cut and mouthwatering briskness. The finish is nakedly pure and drawn out. A magical match with smoked salmon. Drink it now and drink it often.

2016 ELIO GRASSO
NEBBIOLO LANGHE 'GAVARINI'
$21.99 BTL./$131.94 - SIX PACK

One of the excellent visits during my trip to Italy in May was into the Monforte D’Alba area of Gavarini to visit the epic Barolo producer Elio Grasso. Tucked away in the hills between Monforte D’Alba and Castiglione Faletto, we have been ardent supporters of these wines for years, but it was important to once again visit the source. One of the thrills and something that you all will discover is that 2016 is the next big thing for Nebbiolo, Barolo and Barbaresco. Every producer we met with, including Gianluca Grasso lit up when talking about its quality and potential.

The 2016 Nebbiolo is the finest nebbiolo value on the market right now. Gianluca gives this wine all of the love and attention that he does to his Barolo wines. Definitely not the power of a Barolo, but a sleek and upscale Nebbiolo expression nonetheless. Aged entirely in stainless steel tanks, the 2016 Nebbiolo Langhe Gavarini is from the Barolo district of Monforte D’Alba and displays freshness and lots of clarity that are indicative to this part of the Barolo zone. Aromatic rose-petal, red cherry and mineral carry over into a texture that is classically put together with its firm and wiry character that exudes plenty of dark tones to bring just a hint of softness. This is not a by-itself quaffer, have it over the next 5-7 years with pasta or a simple lamb dish.

2015 J. CHRISTOPHER PINOT NOIR
'MEDICI VINEYARD'
$46.99 BTL./$563.88 CASE

Starting in 2015, J. Christopher took over farming responsibilities for Hal Medici’s Chehalem Mountain Vineyard, which was planted in 1976. This old site has always been known as a cool climate site and now with top-level farming, we are seeing some masterful results, not only under Jay’s label but also with others who continue to desire grapes from this old vine source.

Tightly wound and stylish and very reminiscent of something from the Morey-St-Denis/Gevrey-Chambertin region in France. Lots of perfume and purity with an underlay of beautiful notes of griotte cherry, baking herbs and spices, hints of cinnamon/pepper and smoke. Youthful and very primary with pronounced grip. Layered and broad, yet showing ethereal, graceful notes. Regal stuff, especially on the packed finish, this needs some time to harmonize, but it is a monumental offering from Oregon! Drink 2022 - 2030+.
