2011 TEDESCHI VOLPOLICELLA
SUPERIORE 'MATERNIGO'
[reg. $39.99]
$24.99 BTL./$149.94 - SIX PACK

Talk about a wine drinking to perfection with smoothness, texture and being voluptuous all at once. Take advantage, this red wine is superb! Having been in existence since 1630, Tedeschi has always been a formidable name for Amarone and Valpolicella and we are back running it at this excellent $25 special.

A thrill ride of a wine, the locale-named Maternigo is from a vineyard called ‘Impervio’ and is so steep that it may well make a mountain goat puke! This seven-acre single vineyard possesses superior terroir consisting of intermittent white and yellow limestone marls. Done with traditional vinification without any drying of the grapes and aged for 14 months in 2000 and 2500-liter barrels. Sensually red in color, it has a wide and embracing bouquet with scents of forest fruits, briar, Indian spices, and prominent stony mineral and coffee essences. Seamless and sexy on the palate with generous fruit, well-balanced zest and spine and a finish that goes on and on! Beautiful with mushrooms or braised pork. Drink now over the next 10+ years. One last notch – the 2011 Tedeschi Maternigo also received the Tre Bicchieri Award from Gambero Rosso.

2016 NEVEU SANCERRE
'GRAND FRICAMBAULT SILEX'
$24.99 BTL./$299.88 CASE

From one of the Kings of Sancerre, the Grand Fricambault is Sancerre that is outspoken, confident and very well-spoken. If you like ‘em minerally with lightning-like briskness, then 2017 Sancerres and especially this offering are for you!

The Grands Fricambault site is rich with silex soil (very hard, almost diamond-like rocks) vs. old sea-bed Kimmeridgean marl. Firmly focused, piercing scents which are more rock-dust, steel, smoke and gunflint instead of seashore aromas. Pink grapefruit tones ride alongside touches of lime and herbs pulling everything together to a fine, precise and steely finish of old vine penetration and length. This is a WOW white certain to enhance just about any sea-critter preparation.

2015 SAN ISIDRO GARNACHA
'OLD VINES'
$10.99 BTL./$131.88 CASE

Another insane value from Spain, just how do they do it for so cheap?!? What sets this flavorful Spanish red apart is that the Garnacha vines that this wine is sourced from areat least 60 years old. This is the driving force behind the quality of this everyday red. The hot days, cold nights, no rain, and intense sun exposure allow the grapes to ripen perfectly in the central Spanish wine region of Calatayud and make for a scrumptious everyday red.

Waves of black cherry, dried roses, almond and nutmeg follow into a very Spanish texture that reveals brightness and layered tones of fruit, pepper and licorice. Enjoy this wine with smoked meats or a simple, fat cheeseburger.

2017 CHATEAU JOUCLARY
CABARDES ROSE

Cabardes has a motto: vent est – vent oeust, meaning that winds come from the Mediterranean and the Atlantic and where grapes that originate in both areas are planted within this Languedoc region. A blend of 40% Garnacha, 40% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cinsault resulting in more dimension than ever!

Purple and red tones of raspberry and cranberry dance with watermelon and slight peppery tones shine on the nose while the briskness and mouth-watering aspects of Cabernet Franc and Garnacha dominate the front of the mouth. 2015 COE CELLARS SANGIOVESE
'BOUSHEY VINEYARD'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Coe Cellars is a project from a colleague in the business for over a decade and Aaron Coe is fortunate to have fruit from Dick Boushey’s famed Yakima Valley vineyard site. One of the things about this Washington offering is that it isn’t overblown yet never sacrifices what Boushey Vineyard fruit is all about and that is texture.

Beautiful aromatics and flavors of cherries, dried plums, earth and plenty of spice are all incorporated into an elegant wine with great balance and long lasting flavors. This has lots of character, a complement we can’t often afford to too many souped up, soulless, out of balance Sangiovese wines from this area. A tasty, delicious drink to enjoy over the next 3-4 years.

2001 BURMESTER COLHEITA PORT
$34.99 BTL.

Mmmmmm, nothing says summer like PORT!!!! Colheitas are like Late Bottled Vintage Port. They must be aged at least 7 years before bottling, but may be aged much longer. The long ageing process allows Colheitas to become rich, elegant, light in color, beautiful, dessert wines. Burmester are masters at Colheita and this one is a delight to drink.

You can buy these delicious, matured, drinkable, vintage dated Colheitas for about the same price as you'd have to pay for young, unmatured "vintage port, " then you'd have to wait another 20 years to drink them. Truth told many of us don’t have that kind of patience. Fall and winter dictate that we should be imbibing a bit, and these bottles do not have to be finished in one sitting. An array of floral, dried fruit and nut character on the nose and palate. Medium in body and extremely smooth with great balance and a mega-long finish. Maybe not so delicious when it is 100 degrees but it will be perfect on a cold, dark rainy night by a fire with some stilton or chocolate.

2013 ROCCA DI MONTEGROSSI
CHIANTI CLASSICO GRAN SELEZIONE
'SAN MARCELLINO'
96 POINTS - VINOUS
$49.99 BTL. - VERY LIMITED!

Two exciting developments have occurred with this well-known, legendary single Cru Chianti Classico. One, is that has now been elevated to the vaunted and prestigious Gran Selezione classification which tops the name ‘Riserva’. Two, is that normally we do not get to offer this limited production wine out to the entire list so if you ultimately adore the best of the best of Tuscany then here is your chance to grab some while it is available. Only produced in great vintages and with a mere 900 cases produced, one sees the profundity immediately poured.

‘A dazzling, explosive wine, the 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto San Marcellino is endowed with serious aromatic presence, color intensity and overall depth. Dark red and purplish-fruit, exotic, spice and leather are all boldly sketched in a vivid, stunning Chianti Classico that comes alive in the glass. The tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer richness of the fruit. What a stunningly beautiful wine this is. After a trio of warm vintages, 2013 was a welcome change. When all was said and done, the 2013 was picked later than the 2014. Drink 2020 – 2035.’ – 96 POINTS – ANTONIO GALLONI, VINOUS
