2008 CRISTOM PINOT NOIR ''SOMMERS RESERVE''
$39.99 BTL./$479.88 CASE
We couldn't do an Oregon Wine feature without including the Cerebral Assassin, Steve
Doerner's great wines and one from the 2008 vintage to boot! Definitely a wine for the
cellar, the potential of this Reserve bottling from Cristom is immense! Blended from 14
different vineyard sites and containing 7 different Pinot Noir clones, this is truly
Steve's work of art and yet another masterpiece. Currently densely layered, very compact
and youthfully packed. Teeming with brilliant smoked blackberry tones, cinnamon, violet,
rose, cacao and an underlay of dusty earth, it fills the senses with all of the components
of great Pinot Noir. Only revealing a portion of what's to come, this wine will undoubtedly
unfold into something special. Give this one until 2015 and drink through 2024 and beyond!

2008 HOLLORAN VINEYARDS PINOT NOIR “LE PAVILLON” $36.99
BTL./$443.88 CASE
Little do folks know that this wine comes from one of the premier vineyard sites in all of
the Willamette Valley. Planted between 1972 and 1974, this vineyard was the old Dundee
Hills Vineyard and many outstanding wines have come from these grounds over the years. In
fact, for Bryan, one of the things that solidified the potential of Oregon Pinot Noir was
drinking a 1991 Elk Cove from this site back in 1999. When the vineyard was sold, it was
divided into two and Bill Holloran scored the prized upper portion which is now known as Le
Pavillon. This particular wine is made by someone very familiar to us, Jay Somers of J.
Christopher wines. True to form of the vintage and site, this wine is very ageworthy and
definitely a top contender. Complex, aromatic, sexy Pinot aromas gently crawl from the
glass. Poised tones of lavender, smoked earth, herbs, red cherries deliver excellent
purity. In the mouth it is a prodigal ballerina that will develop into something masterful
with cellar-time. Ethereal, cerebral, and changing the questions just when you think you
have all the answers. The 30+ year old vines bring sheer joy and persistence on the finish
that pleasantly lingers for minutes. Ultimately this Oregon beauty will be at its pinnacle
from 2015 – 2026+.
Also, one or two other flavorful, thirst-quenching warm-weather wines will be uncorked today
