2012 CHÂTEAU HAUT-RIAN ROSE
$9.99 BTL./$119.88 CASE

If you want a chance at what we believe is the finest 10 buck Rose this year, here’s your big chance, especially since we have a bunch of warm, bright days ahead. The first arrival of Haut Rian’s delicious Bordeaux Rose sold out extremely quickly but a last load has just arrived. Crunchy raspberry fruit with fennel, licorice and herbs riding shotgun. Alluring aromatics lead into an equally alluring palate. Saline, serious lemon/berry mineral. Pulsating, radiating, elevating, meditating, vibrating!! Elegantly positioned and impressively lingering.

THREE TEMPTING PIEDMONT VALUES FROM MATTEO CORREGGIA

Even at a young age, Matteo Correggia was a profound influence on modern Piedmont and especially the Roero region within Italy's greatest wine region. Sadly an accident occurred while Matteo was working one of his beloved vineyards and he was taken away from the wine world way too early. Bolstered early on after Matteo's untimely passing by several top Barolo & Barbaresco producers, Matteo's widow Ornella has kept his legacy going and the estate and the man himself has remained the spiritual leader of the Roero hills.

2010 MATTEO CORREGGIA BARBERA D’ALBA
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

Barbera grown in the sandy soils of the Roero Hills, Sensuality is the best word to describe any Correggia wine and Bryan so succinctly described the palate-staining 2010 as "liquid wanderlust!!"

Loaded with violet, strawberry, milk chocolate, balsamic, and underlying exotic spiciness on the nose, and then carrying over into a full-texture that has serious spine, focus and natural brightness which allow for excellent harmony, especially on the saturated finish. Enjoy with mushroom risotto with sausages, pizza made with mozzarella, Grana Padano and finished with white truffle oil or simply-prepared slow roasted beast.

2010 MATTEO CORREGGIA ROERO (NEBBIOLO)
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

Aromatic, fine, complex and a complete over-achiever, this 100% Nebbiolo demands respect and adulation from the first moment it is poured.

Licorice-laden, nice floral tones, chinato-herbs and very steely, it is linear, wiry and textbook with upscale depth and material all without ever being ponderous. True character and finesse shine on the packed, persistent finish - drink it through 2016, it'll age nicely. If you love Barolo and Barbaresco but not the price points, then you must have a go at this hard-working Nebbiolo.

2012 MATTEO CORREGGIA ARNEIS
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

This is your new favorite summer white wine, you just haven't tasted it yet! After tasting the new arrival of Coreggia’s Arneis last week and finding out it could be sold for $15, I quickly became incredibly enthusiastic to offer it to all of our white wine-loving friends.

Blazing, gorgeously ripe and stunningly balanced with loads of blood orange, lemongrass, starfruit, and mineral on the nose. In the mouth it's dazzling, dry and brisk, but with no shortage of depth and flavor. Fantastic white for roasted, barbecued or deep fried chicken or with seafood especially Asian-style seared tuna or fried calamari.

2011 J. CHRISTOPHER PINOT NOIR WILLAMETTE VALLEY
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

Yet another 2011 and another wine from Jay Somers and team that has mightily impressed me. Instantaneously classy, this Pinot truly is exactly what Pinot should be: tender, aromatic, graceful, mouthfilling without ever becoming heavy and possessing loads of silk. A true to form Willamette Valley “village” wine, Pinot fruit from 4 appellations (Yamhill-Carlton, Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity and Chehalem Mountain) are blended into this cuvee.

Beautiful combo of red berry, violet, sage, lavender and spicy earth flow nicely from the alluring aromatics into the smooth, gliding texture. Sensuous throughout this wine will be lovable over the next 4-5 years.

2011 MCMANIS ZINFANDEL
$10.99 BTL./$131.88 CASE

Inexpensive California Zinfandel can be a complete disaster but every now and then one will surprise. For several years now, we have been featuring the wines from McManis and they consistently provide strong varietal character and plenty of bang for the buck.

Chock full of pepper and black raspberry with dusty cocoa added to a hint of smoky, beefy undertones. Forward and honest, this is a mouth-filling gem that pleases with every sip.

2010 DOMAINE ALAIN VOGE ST-JOSEPH
$37.99 BTL./$455.88 CASE

Super St-Joseph from one of the Grand Old Cornas kings. When Alain Voge took on Alberic Mazoyeres as a partner, Alberic brought along a little over 2 acres of St-Joseph from the classic portion of the appellation, one parcel in Mauves and the other in Glun, 2 of the original 6 St-Joseph villages. Aged in entirely in small French barriques, but none new, this is a sultry bottle of ageworthy Saint-Jo!

A masculine nose with dominating protein tones along with smoked plum, black olive, freshly ground pepper and violet which all become more regal as the wine unfolds in the glass. Tightly packed right now in the mouth, but plenty of finesseful fruit and well-rounded tannins provide structure and backbone. The finish is poised, mouthwatering, very granitic-spice-driven along with plenty of material that just needs some cellar time to come out. Hold on to this smooth Saint-Jo until the end of 2015 and drink it through 2025.

DELAMOTTE BLANC DE BLANCS “LE MESNIL SUR OGER”
[reg. 69.99] SPECIAL PRICE - $49.99 BTL./$299.94 – SIX PACK CASE

Champagne Delamotte, the sister house to the legendary (and über-expensive) Salon, is a Blanc de Blancs specialist of impeccable pedigree. With 250 years of history and being all of their fruit for this Blanc de Blancs coming from 100% Grand Cru Vineyards, Delamotte's version is undoubtedly one of the most radiant that you will ever taste. Low dosage combined with 4-5 years on the lees before bottling makes it a seriously complex sparkler. First and foremost, Delamotte is all about minerality and dimension; the key being the fruit being from the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil.

Classic Champagne chalky aromas combine nicely with aromatic lemon-blossom, white chocolate, ginger and subtle biscuit aspects all which seemingly don't stop flowing from the glass. The entire package can best be described as pleasure and poise. Plenty of depth but plenty of livewire qualities it's perfect for sharing with friends and accompanied by freshly-shucked oysters, crab or even lobster. Superb at 70 bucks, it is a heist at this limited time special price!!

2009 CASTELNAU DE SUDUIRAUT SAUTERNES
$35.99 – FULL BOTTLE
$19.99 – HALF BOTTLE

Castelnau de Suduiraut is the great Château Suduiraut’s second wine and absolutely offers up ravishing value and while not the big wine, gives quite an amazing experience without being north of $100 (If you want any of the big Chateau Suduiraut, e-mail for pricing). The grand vin also scored 98 points from The Wine Advocate and deservedly so, however, one can assume that given the greatness of the 2009 vintage and Suduiraut’s severely strict selection, that there is some amazing botrytisized fruit in this cuvée.

2009 across the board in Sauternes is frighteningly great and this First Growth Château, who has an amazing track record, has produced some of their finest wines that will be included in the realm of such legendary years like 2001, 1989, 1967 and 1959. Full-flavored and youthful and difficult to believe that this is a second wine! Rich and full-throttle with deep, shiny orange and apricot aromas that stand up in the glass. Hints of trademark Sauternes honey start to shine. In the mouth, it is unctuous, sweet and rich, but with graceful acidity to allow it to age impeccably. At $36 for a full bottle & $20 bucks for a split, this is a steal! Not a crime to try one now, but it will be best 2015 - 2025.
