2019 CVNE RIBERA DEL DUERO
'SELECCION DE FINCAS'
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

CVNE (Cia Viñacola Del Norte De España, or Cune) is one of the most important producers of Rioja wine and like many Bodegas of a certain size, they also have their toes in other areas of Spain including Ribera del Duero. This 100% Tempranillo comes from sites from the estate's sites in Villalba de Duero in the heart of this warm appellation.

The aim for this wine is to be a smooth, mouth-filling, fruit-forward Tempranillo with just a touch of barrel aging to soften the wine further and allow for early consumption. The nose is fresh and fruity with aromas of redcurrants and raspberries plus a touch of sweet clove spiciness. The palate is medium-bodied with flavors of soft cherries, spiced plums and crushed red fruit complimented by a subtly soft and long round finish.

2022 WALTER SCOTT PINOT NOIR
'LA COMBE VERTE'
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

Something perfect to impress and share with out of town guests! When it comes to this wine as well as its Chardonnay sibling, I often hesitate to call it merely Willamette Valley because of the quality of vineyards, farming and winemaking that goes into the production of them. They are that serious and impeccable values.

The 2022 marks a return (for this vintage at least) to being a majority of Eola-Amity fruit blended with the mighty Freedom Hill vineyard. Sensuous aromatics with an impressive core of poised fruit, engaging smoke and spice all that follows through to a silky texture that expands nicely and maintains vibrancy throughout. Lengthy and very promising, this seriously delectable and seamless Pinot is an unmitigated heist! Very enjoyable now but this will also easily age and develop for 8-10+ years.

2022 CHATEAU LA BARONNE
CORBIERES BLANC 'LES CHEMINS'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

The Languedoc appellation of Corbieres has only 5% white grapes; this is a wine you don't see or taste every day. The Ligneres family has owned and operated this estate continually since 1890 with the latest generation, Jean and Anne maintaining their predecessors' success and converting all over to organic/biodynamic farming.

70% Grenache Blanc, 20% Vermentino, 10% Roussanne, this wine reveals roundness and suppleness alongside briskness and vivacity. Elusive and exotic is the best way to describe this savory white. Smoky with tropical fruit tones, especially banana, as well as yellow flower and mineral undertones. Generous and ripe with nice spicy flavors that plane out into a crisp, citrusy, mouth-watering finish.

2021 EINAUDI DOGLIANO (DOLCETTO)
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

The name Einaudi is very important in Italian history, as it was Luigi Einaudi who was elected as Italy's first president in 1948. He is often remembered by Italians with admiration and respect for all that he did for the country both economically and intellectually. Many years before he was elected, in 1897, he founded this Piedmont estate that is now run by his great grandson Matteo Sardagna.

Living in the shadow of Nebbiolo and Barbera, Dolcetto can often be forgotten, but when it comes from Dogliani, it is very special and THE grape of this village, especially since the high-elevation vineyards bring boundless rewards in the bottle. Beautiful and explosive at the same time with super-ripe, gorgeous black cherry and mineral tones; Knockout, dense and very precise flavors with undertones of dark chocolate on the rich, layered and very long finish. Einaudi's Dolcetto di Dogliani is a wily best buy that anyone who is savvy about red wine will undoubtedly purchase.

2019 PIEQUE BIERZO
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Located in the Northwestern “inland corner” of Spain, Bierzo enjoys recognition from the rest of the world for its production of Mencia - the varietal we will not compare to other grapes.

Unoaked with vivid tones of cherry pit, dark chocolate, pepper and soft roasted herbs, the essence of Bierzo’s terroir is on full display with this bursting and transparent red. All of the components seem to build as the wine opens in the glass and entice you to take a sip that is pristine, medium-bodied and instantaneously quaffable. More importantly, this wine also shows wonderful intensity from the use of old vine (55 years) fruit that all culminates in the succulent, minerally finish which expands nicely and wants you to take another sip. Enjoy this excellent, very individual Spanish red with sausages, Serrano ham, or even a fish done in a tomato-based broth

2019 CHATEAU LA ROSE TRIMOULET
SAINT-EMILION GRAND CRU
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

At the heart of the famous village of St-Emilion, these vineyards have been tended and wines made by the Brisson family since the eighth century.

Sexy aromas from the moment it is poured. Blueberry, violet but some red tinged Cabernet Franc (25%) arrives on the scene. Tealeaf, hints of spice cake and cocoa. Sensuous, generous expansive. No hairs out of place on this offering. Chewy and picks up its tannins and spine revealing its aging potential. The finish soars then folds inward but pleasantly lingers. One can access this by merely tasting but for best results, I would hold it for another year then enjoy through 2030.

2019 ECHOLANDS SYRAH
WALLA WALLA
$39.99 BTL./$479.88 CASE

94 Points – The Wine Spectator…After now working with Doug Frost and company’s Echolands wines for about a year now, it is no surprise that they make stunning Syrah wines. From the heralded Les Collines Vineyard along with additions from The Rocks District, this 12.8% alcohol version is aged in 500-liter barrels and very little new. This allows for the purity and depth of Syrah not to be overwhelmed by a bunch of oak furniture.

Smoky, peppery and chock full of cassis, currants and subtle cinnamon/white pepper. Lavishly flavored with resounding burst, this is showing beautifully and complete along with outstanding persistence and savory brightness on the finish. Brilliantly focused and ageworthy Walla Walla Syrah. Hold until end of 2024 and drink through 2031+.

2019 DOMAINE DU COLLIER
SAUMUR 'RIPAILLE'
$59.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

Son of the late Charly Foucault, Antoine Foucault founded this small Domaine in 1999 when he was a mere 26-years-old. His family name is a giant when it comes to Loire Valley wines, his father and uncle were the minds behind the great Saumur-Champigny wines at the luxury, very expensive Clos Rougeard however, Antoine, a superstar on his own, makes prolific red and white wines that are darlings of the wine world.

100% Cabernet Franc, this offering along with the other red wines at the estate seemingly have a top Cru Burgundy feel to them even though they are grown nowhere near Pinot Noir country. 2019 is both aromatic and sturdy possessing generous red and black fruits, Indian spices, energetic stony character with submerged but noticeable fennel and allspice notes. Symbiotically balanced red raspberry fruit in the mouth, with savory spices and herbs, and great supporting structure on the finish, lots of brightness and dimension carries over to the soulful finish. A wonderful wine that is a true taste of France. I love this wine now but knowing the backbone and structure that is there, it will easily age through 2033+.
