Barbecue is required for what is pound-for-pound, our favorite 10 buck range Cotes-du-Rhone. OK, it will work with a bunch of other things, but in any case we are thrilled to offer up the new release from 2012, a strong vintage for the Rhone Valley.
Owned and operated by Englishman Nick Thompson and his wife Sabine for almost 30 years, this estate continues to produce wines that are way above their price-grades. 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah & 20% Carignan from vines just east of the village of Cairanne, this provocative, yet pleasurable summer red boasts saturated scents of strawberry, lavender, rosemary and pronounced white pepper which are soulful and penetrating. Supple, spicy and flavorful, as usual this is an inspired selection for near term drinking over the next 2-4 years and perfect for just about anything that's smoked, grilled or with some sort of tangy sauce.
