2010 CHATEAU SAINT GEORGES "ST-GEORGES ST-EMILION"
$37.50 BTL./$450.00 CASE

Over the years we have converted many of our friends to the sensuality of Chateau St-Georges satellite St-Emilion wines. For those of you who follow these wines, you should definitely continue your vertical with the ravishing new arrival of their mighty new offering. Combining structure and depth of fruit, 2010 Bordeaux wines are all that they've been cracked up to be and more. They are also built to age. The newest and snazziest version of Chateau St-Georges is one of the finest that we have tried in over 20 years experience with this property.

The usual blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc is present and this wine tastes and will age as though it should be $67.50, not $37.50. Very youthful and exuberant, but the pronounced blueberry fruit and ironstone come right through. Expansive, deep fruit leads the way, but there is serious structure here for aging as it firms up in the middle and back. Give this one 5 more years to truly unleash itself. Perfect between 2018 - 2027+.

2012 SEVEN OF HEARTS VIOGNIER-ROUSSANNE "CHATTE D'AVIGNON"
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

Located in Carlton, Byron Dooley's Seven of Hearts operation is quite impressive. Making upwards of 30 different selections all in miniscule parcels, this small operation has grape sources in both Oregon and Washington. The grapes for this Rhone-inspired white wine come from the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge appellation just outside of Arlington, Oregon.

66% Viognier, 34% Roussanne and only 196 cases produced, this terrific northwest white is a great alternative to the normal whites produced here. Byron always has such a deft touch in making his wines so this version shows varietal strength very well. Peach-pit along with roses and ginger-spice play nicely with engaging lemony aspects. Texturally there is nice depth and body with the percentage of Roussanne bringing out zing and freshness. Try this with a fish dish with some Thai inspiration.

2012 GULFI CERASUOLO DI VITTORIA
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Gulfi is a Sicilian producer that is currently making some of the most compelling Italian red wines that we think should be in your glass. Vito Catania came to the area with a vision of making ancient-style, natural wines using modern technology. Since he purchased his 100 acres in 1996, he's certainly succeeded in becoming one of Sicily's most charmed producers.

50% Nero D'Avola and 50% Frappatto, this fragrant, detonating in the mouth red is full of vibrant, crunchy cherry fruit, smoke, pepper and underlying plum tones that follow through to a texture that tingles and fills the mouth without being tannic or heavy. Perfect for drinking over the next two or three years with fish and tomato dishes.

2011 ALAIN VOGE CORNAS "LES CHAILLES"
$49.99 BTL./$599.88 CASE

2009 through 2013 in the Northern Rhone Valley will all prove to be very fine vintages. Along with Clape, Domaine Voge is one of the two grand old producers in this small Syrah appellation that is finally getting recognition for its greatness and deservedly so, these are collectible wines which age impeccably.

2011 very ably follows 2010 for this leading Domaine and their Les Chailles cuvee delivers thrilling and profound tones of cracked pepper, violets, smoked beef, and undertones of chocolate-covered cherry. In the mouth, it shows a lushness of fruit that is still youthful, but also shows the tell-tale minerality and backbone-structure of the region. The finish is young and exuberant, but seems to go on and on. There is tremendous aging potential for those who collect. If you are adventurous uncork one now with a steak slathered in a mélange of peppercorns, but for best results give it until the end of 2016 and then enjoy it over the next decade after that.
