2018 SELVAPIANA CHIANTI RUFINA
[reg. $21.99]
SPECIAL - $14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Located a mere 40 minutes east and slightly north of Florence lies the Rufina zone of Chianti and is home to names like Frescobaldi and Selvapiana. 2018 is a classic year in Tuscany and this wine performed mightily as evidenced by a 92-point score from Vinous.

‘Selvapiana's 2018 Chianti Rufina is exquisitely beautiful. A wine of translucence and character, the 2018 captures the essence of the vintage in spades. Dark cherry, blood orange, cinnamon, rose petal and mint are all laced together in the glass. The 2018 is effortless and silky, with striking aromatic presence and exceptional balance. This is so impressive. – 92 POINTS, ANTONIO GALLONI, VINOUS

2016 TOUR DU BON BANDOL
[reg. $39.99]
SPECIAL - $26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

These days Bandol isn't just Domaine Tempier. Many stalwarts are finally being recognized for outstanding quality and the devout traditionalist Domaine Tour du Bon is one that we have been working with and enjoying for many years. Very much a wine that ages extremely well, the 2016 is not just a can of whoop-ass, it is a whole case of whoop-ass!

Serious blueberry scents with undertones of graphite, red flower and coffee from earth rather than from the use of new oak. Wiry texture and extremely tightly wound with resounding structure, this wine is powerfully-built and yet still reflects the finesse and lift of some sand in the soils makeup as well as the vineyards being at one of the highest points in the appellation. 55% Mourvedre, 25% Grenache, 15% Cinsault & 5% Carignan with deep, fine fruit notes underneath and more will come out with time. Expect this to be very ripe, layered and profound with complex notes of Provençal herbs, mushroom and floral tones as it ages. Firm and packed in the back, but really stays around exquisitely in the mouth. If you like a wine to smack you around, go ahead and uncork one but for best results, wait until 2022 and have it through 2030.

2019 DOMAINE RAVIER
VIN DE SAVOIE ROSE
[reg. $13.99] SPECIAL - $9.99 BTL./$119.88 CASE

As we head into November, one might think that Rose is packed away for the year. Far from it, in fact, it is one of the best choices to sip before and during a holiday meal due to its flexibility. Along with Eugene Carrel, Domaine Savier is a top player in this alpine region and this 100% Gamay Rose is all about sheer pleasure.

Smokin' good, refreshing and invigorating stuff with screaming tones of strawberry and lemon with a little floral aspect that lead into a bursting, dry, gleaming, yet sneaky-with-substance texture that cries out for you to slam it, then pour another glass. It also is very food friendly and will pair with any holiday plate that is loaded with all the fixings.

2015 CHOFFLET-VALDENAIRE GIVRY
'CLOS DE CHOUE' PREMIER CRU
[reg. $36.99]
SPECIAL - $25.99 BTL./$311.88 CASE

Not all Burgundy is expensive. Often this region is stereotyped by nothing but Grand Cru. Trophy hunters and label chasers are to blame for much of these misinterpretations, but true Burgundy lovers enjoy wines from all the communes of this prominent Pinot region. Five generations of Chofflets have toiled at this tiny 12-acre estate located close to the town of Givry. Upon Jean Chofflet’s retirement in 1996, son-in-law Denis Valdenaire is at the helm of this fine and much underrated estate.

The Premier Cru Clos de Choue vineyard is a 6-hectare south facing amphitheater with a mixture of red clay and small stones in the soil, which provide excellent drainage. A beautiful essence of what value Burgundy is, the 2015 offers intense red fruit flavors of cassis, raspberry and wild cherry, ground pepper, underlying smoke and is ready to drink on release. We really love this wine and for the special price and a vintage of this caliber, it is definitely going find a place in our cellars as well. Drink this beauty with pork or mushroom laden dishes through 2026+.

2018 FRITZ HAAG RIESLING KABINETT
BRAUNEBERGER JUFFUR
[reg. $33.99]
SPECIAL - $23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

One of Germany’s famed and greatest estates and impeccably run by Oliver Haag has turned to producing Riesling Kabinett that actually tastes like Kabinett versus an almost-Spatlese. This wine is from the Great Cru Juffur vineyard and provides an airy, joyful, almost dancing quality that makes one really want to love this wine. It is also a mere 8.5% alcohol.

Warning - you are certain to become addicted to this wine! Yes, there is a kiss of sweetness to this wine, but not more that would be in most Oregon Pinot Gris these days. The nose here is thrilling. Blazing with white peach, lime, slate and a subtle underlay of spice. In the mouth, an unqualified delicious white that bursts, lifts and moves throughout the mouth, finishing crisp and with a certain salinity and mineral. Not only is this wine impeccable now, it will age nicely for 8-10 years. Drink with white sausages, Korean cuisine or smoked mussels.

2019 ALTA VISTA MALBEC 'VIVE'
[reg. $14.99]
SPECIAL - $9.99 BTL./$119.88 CASE

One of the hottest values on this sheet (and any other) is this succulent 10-buck Malbec from Argentina. French-owned Alta Vista, founded in 1998, on all levels produces wines of fantastic quality and distinction.

Argentina is awash with under 10 dollar Malbecs, however a good many of them seemingly taste the same but this one doesn’t fall into that trap. Smoked blackberry, tobacco, and kisses of licorice Follow through to a chewy, mouth-coating, spice driven texture that has good balance and freshness. Nicely done and perfect for a weeknight red wine experience.

CHAMPAGNE BILLECART-SALMON
BRUT RESERVE
[reg. $59.99]
SPECIAL - $45.99 BTL./$275.94 - SIX PACK

Billecart is now on its special price for the season! Billecart-Salmon is one of the Champagne region's mid-sized houses but is also one that Champagne-lovers know so well and one that we refer to as ‘mid-sized but mighty’.

What famed Champagne house Billecart-Salmon is doing is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Having changed focus at the turn of the millennium and almost taking on a grower's mentality, this house is now producing wines in a terroir-driven, richly layered but elegant reality. The petite, elegant mousse tells a lot about the quality of this impressive Champagne. It is quite full in style, with flavors of white currants, white chocolate, brioche and a rich, firmly dry and achingly beautiful long aftertaste.

2017 DOMAINE DROUHIN
PINOT NOIR 'LAURENE'
$65.99 BTL./$395.94 - SIX PACK

Once again, Domaine Drouhin has produced greatness with their Laurene cuvee. 2017 is a great Oregon vintage and you will not want to miss this before it sells out!

‘Shimmering ruby-red. High-pitched red fruit, floral and exotic spice aromas are complemented by suave incense and vanilla flourishes. Sweet, seamless and penetrating on the palate, offering vibrant raspberry, boysenberry, cherry preserve and spicecake flavors that convey a deft blend of power and delicacy. Finishes extremely long and precise, with resonating floral character and well-judged, polished tannins that sneak in late. Drink 2023- 2030. – 95 POINTS - VINOUS
