2017 DOMAINE FICHET
BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY
$26.99 - 18 btls available

Jean-Philippe Fichet can certainly be referred as a Meursault maestro. In fact this statement can be placed on all of his wines. One of the methods on how to determine greatness in Burgundy is not necessarily within the Grands Crus but in the regional wines such as this one. When on a level such as this, they are remarkable.

Located across a small road from Meursault-Charmes Premier Cru, this Bourgogne from 40-year-old vines outclasses many inferior village level Meursault wines. The first thing that I wrote in my notes during tasting this wine is: ‘One thinks they are sipping Meursault.’ lemon-lime, mineral, persistent and inviting with tell-tale Meursault notes of cereal, honey and toasted bread ripe and pure entry with good amplitude, but also possesses engaging, citrusy lift and excellent mineral notes on the finish. This wine is kickass for its price and it can best be called a Meursault experience without the Meursault price!

2017 LAVANTUREUX CHABLIS
[reg. $32.99] SPECIAL - $23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

I was able to score a bit more so we will pour it today until if and when it sells out. Located in the village of Lignorelles in the northern portion of Chablis, Domaine Lavantureux was founded in 1979 and with the higher elevation than around the village of the Chablis this estate produces magnificent Chablis from top to bottom. Even though the family produces some Premiers and a Grand Cru, the real treasures of this estate are their AC Chablis and Petit Chablis wines.

Pristine, classic Chablis aromas soar from the glass and feature gunsmoke, lemon, gentle hints of juniper and seashells. In the mouth it is precisely and brightly detailed, much delineated and with compact richness in the mid-palate. Wiry and finely tuned with minerally zip on the edges and on the expressive, long and steely finish. Lavantureaux’s Chablis wines are nothing but the truth! Drink this fabulous white over the next 5 years with oysters, sole prepared in a light cream sauce or even a smoked ham.

Red Wines are open today but you'll have to drop by to see and taste them
