2016 PERNOT-BELICARD
BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY
$26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

The name Pernot in Puligny-Montrachet is quite an excellent one. Philippe Pernot is the son of the legendary Paul Pernot. To this day he continues to work at his father’s Domaine, however, he and his wife also make wine from her family’s plots under the Pernot-Belicard label that range from this moonsaulting Bourgogne all the way up to a stellar Meursault-Perrieres. The 2016 Bourgogne Chardonnay is a rocking value of quality.

From just below the Puligny limitation and above the Route National in a very respectable neighborhood, this is essence of Cote D’Or white Burgundy. Sophistication and harmony in the bottle and glass, this is a superior version of Bourgogne Blanc. Floral notes with orange, mineral, rosemary and anise lead into a wiry, nervy texture that has all of the weight and richness that the low-yielding 2016 white Burg vintage has to offer. A linear, complex and lengthy finish makes this a great wine for matching up with sole or halibut in rich sauces. Drink over the next 4-5 years.

2017 FEUILLARDE MACON-CHARNAY
$17.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

There is Macon, Macon-Villages and then Macon-followed by the name of a specific village. The latter of the three tends to be where some of the world’s most exciting white wine values. Located west of the small city of Macon, Charnay is one of the smaller, named villages of the Maconnais.

100% UNOAKED Chardonnay, this wine screams of France! Clean, fresh and incredibly vibrant with magical notes of tangerine, lemon and most obviously, interlaced with exquisite minerality. The palate is zesty and pure with nervosity, thrust and sophistication of stoniness that follows from the nose. Balanced with lively fruit and detail, this versatile non-oaked wine will give wine drinkers a new insight into this chameleon of a varietal. A terrific selection for roasted poultry, mushroom or simply prepared fish dishes and an impressive one to sip on its own.

2015 DOMAINE BART
MARSANNAY 'LES LONGEROIS'
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

After World War I, the market for red Burgundy, especially Marsannay turned downward and Rose rather became a savior to the region that is now dominated by red wine production. A virtual suburb of Dijon, this Cote-de-Nuit village has become one of the exciting, go-to areas for red Burgundy value. While there are no Premiers Crus sites within Marsannay, they are coming, hence the halcyon days of good pricing will inevitably end, this means get them now!

Les Longerois is one of Marsanny’s top sites and is a prime candidate for Premier Cru status upgrade in the future. Perfume, elegance and sophistication are present with an almost Morey-St-Denis-like poise of rose and reglise tones. Youthful in mid-mouth right now, expansion will come with an underlying complexity that is lurking beneath the surface in a few years. Refined, crushed berry and red tinged, this attractive Pinot shows excellent length and prettiness all of which will be even more omni-present in 2-3 years.

2016 PILLOT BEAUNE PREMIER CRU
LES BOUCHEROTTES
$49.99 BTL. - LIMITED

Not only does our friend Laurent Pillot make awesome white wines, he also kills it with his red wines as well. In fact, we know how good the whites are but now we are even more excited when the red wines arrive. Through marriage, Laurent Pillot scored red wine vineyards from several grand villages within the Cotes-de-Beaune. Boucherottes is a Premier Cru vineyard in southern portion of the Beaune appellation and a stone’s throw from, Pommard. This beautiful parcel planted between 1966 and 1996 presents a terroir that is warm and plush, on a slightly stony, brown limestone soil adjacent to the Pommard 'Boucherottes' Premier Cru. Laurent has a mere 1.13 acres of this Cru and usually about 200 cases are ever produced.

A stunning nose right out of the chute. Roses, pepper, mineral, touches of vanilla and nutmeg waft from the glass with very attractive attributes that are pretty much non-stop. This will develop even more perfume as it ages. Immense expansion clamps down and shows its infancy. Outstanding herbs and Asian spices. Savory, succulent and very long. This may well the best Pillot Beaune wine that I have tasted. Wow! Drink this collectible Premier Cru 2021 – 2030. A real value given the world of Burgundy and Pinot Noir, email if you would like some, only 15 bottles are available.
