2017 MONGESTINE ROSE
COTEAUX D'AIX EN PROVENCE
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

This is one of those ‘better late than never’ Rose arrivals. A new estate for us, Domaine La Mongestine is located in the Northeast sector of the Coteaux D’Aix en Provence appellation, almost at the border of the Luberon. Organically grown and quite sophisticated, I was taken with this wine and even more excited when told the price because I thought that it was of quality of wines that I sell at $20

Based around 40% Grenache and 30% Syrah, this vivid, salmon-pink colored number is the real deal. Laden with strawberry, red cherry, lemon and subtle mineral, this dry wine assaults the senses in the mouth with flavor and crispness that make you crave another sip. Drawn out, with ample provencal herbs, this wine will pair up with so many fine dishes.

2017 BAUDRY CHINON ROSE
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

When it comes to Chinon, Bernard and Mathieu Baudry are the current titleholders. We make no bones about our affinity for these red Loire Valley wines that are made with 100% Cabernet Franc, including this toothsome dry, pink wine.

Chinon's limestone soils scream out on the 2017, which teems with prominent scents of raspberry and hawthorn along with underlying minerality and fine herbs. Vinous yet very poised texture, not only is this a pleasurable Rosé, it also takes on a serious tone that will allow it to pair with a variety of cuisines. In the mouth, there is lots of movement, depth and complexity with a very expressive, illuminating finish that pleasantly lasts for minutes after the wine is swallowed. If you are a fan of the finest rosé wines, then this one will be a must-have. Try with grilled tuna or swordfish.

2017 JANASSE COTES-DU-RHONE ROSE
$9.99 BTL - 30 btls left!

Hot damn is this ever drinking beautifully. It is even more impressive than when it arrived earlier in Spring. Given the bounty of vegetables, fish and more, it is only fitting that one should drink a Rose of this ilk.

Done in the saignee method, this wine is refreshing, invigorating yet substantial enough to stand up to various dishes both Provence inspired and others. Screaming tones of strawberry and grapefruit with a little floral aspect that lead into a bursting, crisp, dry, gleaming texture that cries out for you to slam it, and then pour another glass or six! Toss some swordfish on to the grill and have at it. Also very fine indeed with grilled zucchini, grilled onions, BBQ with sauces as well as something upscale like a seafood risotto. Hell, it’s even delicious with a caprese salad...yes; they do grow and eat tomatoes in France!

2017 OSTATU RIOJA ROSE
$13.99 BTL./$167.88 CASE

A long-time favorite red and white Rioja producer, Ostatu’s philosophy of old vines that speak of terroir certainly follows over to their mouth-watering, gushing pink wine.

70% Tempranillo, 30% Garnacha from 60-70 year old vines really drive this wine. Alluring morello cherry, smoked herbs, dried rose petals and an underlay of mineral dominate the complex nose. In the mouth, it is mouth-watering, savory and attractive with lots of flavor, depth and intrigue. The finish is vibrant and quite long. As usual, this is great wine with traditionally prepared seafood dishes or alone on the porch, but do not be afraid to pair it with spicy, sassy Latino or Asian preparations, too. ¡Un ejemplo magnífico de un vino muy bonito que es económico y delicioso!
