2016 J. CHRISTOPHER SAUVIGNON BLANC
WILLAMETTE VALLEY
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

When it comes to Oregon white wines, not too many surpass the quality of what J. Christopher is doing right now, especially with Sauvignon Blanc. Since the winery's inception in 1996, Jay Somers has been a devout believer in the qualities of Sauvignon and the uniqueness that Oregon's climate brings to the wines. Establishing their own identity, those producing this varietal have realized differences from their French, California or New Zealand colleagues.

The J. Christopher 2016 is a stunner and instantly shows just how good this Oregon vintage will be across the board. Bone-dry, refreshing, zesty, but with ample substance to carry over to the dinner table. Brilliant aromas and flavors of honeydew, mandarin, forward mineral and smoke blitz the senses and follow through to entice one to uncork another bottle. Great to sip on a warm evening and also happens to be perfect with just about any seafood that comes out of the waters of the Northwest and it will start any meal off right.

2016 SIDEBAR (RAMEY)
SAUVIGNON BLANC
$14.99 BTL./$179.88 CASE

Sidebar means “the bar adjacent to the main bar” or “the sidelight of a main story.” Sidebar Cellars is a new and exciting project from Napa legend David Ramey and Ramey Wine Cellars. These wines to be enjoyed on an every evening basis and we think that Sauvignon Blanc fans will go nuts over this one!

The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc is from Lake County and is aged in both stainless steel tanks and neutral oak barrels, done so not to impart any intrusive oak tones. Enticing from the first moment that the wine is poured into the glass, freshly cut grass lurks beneath beautiful orange-lime-fig aromas. In the mouth, a touch of creaminess buffers the brisk, fruit-driven, crisp citrus characteristics. The finish is very sleek and suave with an enlightening finish that sticks around nicely well after the wine is swallowed. A stellar deal from one of California and America’s most important and influential wine figures!

2016 POJER E SANDRI
SAUVIGNON BLANC 'DOLOMITI'
$22.99 BTL./$275.88 CASE

If you love Sauvignon Blanc, particularly those with incredible purity of fruit, then this is an absolute must for you. Pojer e Sandri is widely recognized as an elite winery for white wines in the Trentino denomination of Italy. The partnership and friendship of Fiorentino Sandri and winemaker Mario Pojer dates back to 1975. Along with Foradori, these two operations revolutionized the area. Today they remain the leaders of Trentino. Whereas Foradori concentrates on the Teroldego grape, Pojer & Sandri work with native varietals as well as international selections and all provide outstanding results.

Grown in vineyards that that range from 1300-2100 feet and done sans oak barrels, this wine shows just how pristine this varietal is in Northern Italy. The 2016 is a vibrant, naked and devilishly fresh drink with fleshy flavors of Meyer lemon, Crenshaw melon, creamy pear and substantial minerality all underline the terroir and ultimate sophistication of the wine. The finish is crisp and cleansing and rings out for quite a while then snaps back for some more. Drink now and over the next year with alder-plank grilled salmon, summer salads with fresh cheeses, and light pastas.

2017 DELAPORTE SANCERRE
CHAVIGNOL
$26.99 BTL./$323.88 CASE

Young Matthieu Delaporte, grandson of the Sancerre visionary Vincent Delaporte, proudly carries on his legacy, is a serious terroirist, and captures the essence of Sancerre in every vintage. At the apex of the entire Sancerre region, the village of Chavignol would qualify as Grand Cru in just about any wine growing region.

Last year so many of you enjoyed the 2016 Chavignol and we certainly have to say after tasting, the 2017 is even better. Like 2016, 2017 is a small quantity vintage but the remaining grapes have produced epic results. Sultry aromas of flintstone and pronounced, pleasing mandarin along with gooseberry and lemon. Beautiful ripeness with lots of cool, snappy crisp tones to balance out the intensity of fruit and terroir. Drawn out, long finish that shows impeccable nervosité. To us, this white is on parallel with some of the finest Sauvignons of the world. Drink with pan-seared Halibut cheeks, Dover sole or, if you can find it, a proper Crottin du Chavignol.
