2015 MONTAUTO MAREMMA ROSSO
$12.99 BTL./$77.94 - SIX PACK

Located way down at the Southern border of Tuscany almost to the Lazio border, the terroir and wines here have such a uniqueness that will ultimately cause you to absolutely fall for this estate’s wines.

The Rosso is made with 80% Ciliegiolo and 20% Sangiovese and is ultra-fresh and engaging due to the non-use of oak. Fruit-dominated with savory raspberry, sage and lurking violet and spiced earth in the background. Juicy with classy, mouth-filling Southern Tuscan flavors that fill the mouth nicely from start to finish. At this price, we encourage you to buy a bunch and liberally toss it back!

2014 TRIMBACH RIESLING
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

The classic version from Trimbach is one of our absolute favorite gateway drugs into the world of pure and unadulterated bone DRY Riesling from Alsace.

Refinement and zip are the hallmark traits of any Trimbach Riesling and the 2014 is bursting on the nose with flint and kaffir lime. Waves of mineral, even more lime, and terrific cut in the mouth. So pure, so clean, so long, and utterly refreshing and accessible, especially with a spicy Pad Thai dish. In the future, will gain in weight and complexity and will be a perfect match with traditional pork choucroute. Drink now -2022.

2012 PICQUE-CAILLOU 'PESSAC-LEOGNAN'
GRAVES ROUGE
$29.99 BTL./$359.88 CASE

One of our favorite red Bordeaux wines, Chateau Picque-Caillou is located in a very prime spot in the Pessac-Leognan sector of Bordeaux’s famed Graves region. Long before 1987 when this area was sectioned off the Graves region, great wine was produced here, in particular from Picque-Caillou’s more celebrated neighbors, Chateau Haut-Brion and Chateau Pape Clement, which Picque-Caillou sits virtually in between and about a 10-minute drive from either property.

45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot & 10% Cabernet Franc comprise the 2012 and once again, it is one of the grand sleepers in our repertoire of Bordeaux. Forward, persistent scents of violet, earth-tinged adobe, graphite, cocoa powder and raspberry. Those same room-filling aromatics transfer beautifully to the texture and coat the mouth with red fruit and cassis, yet keep great balance, good structure and that ‘long-and-winding road’ of a finish that we have come to expect from this beauty. Drink now with decantation and a thick steak or something earthy. Picque-Caillou also has a super propensity to age. No problem for this much-underrated vintage to drink well and develop for another 10+ years. Highly recommended for those who love Bordeaux or those who would just like to see what all of the hullabaloo is about when it comes to this area of Pessac-Leognan. Moreover, best yet is that it is priced well south of 200 bucks!
