The second line Pink Parade is on and we are going slightly eclectic with our choices. Drop by this Friday to taste a sundry of pink wines. We promise none of them will be alike! For those who have pink-o-phobia, we’ll also have a red wine open as well.

There is Rose in Italy; however, much of it is from non-traditional regions. In fact, there are only three classic areas where Rose has been produced for centuries, Lombardy (Chiaretto), Puglia and the Cerasuolo from Abruzzo. One of the real leaders and innovators of Abruzzo, Luigi Cataldi Madonna marries tradition with innovation and produces wines that are seriously upscale for the region yet won't cause one to break the bank in order to enjoy a bottle. Over the last decade, give or take, we have featured the Montepulciano D’Abruzzo as well as the white wine from the Pecorino grape but this is the first time we have offered the invigorating rose.
A pink rocket of love that is destined to send you into orbit, this rose from 100% of the Montepulciano grape is all about vivid pleasure. Made from vines planted in 1970 and specifically meant for this wine, alluring red licorice whip and strawberry surround subtle mineral and freshly cut herbs; the cool, ethereal texture that takes on all of the nuances that the nose gives. The finish bursts and grabs the tongue before heading down. Beautifully dry and seafood friendly but it is really at its best with a Caprese Salad or Arancini. Slurp, slurp, slurp!

One of the New York Times Top 20 Rose wines of 2017, this Corsican Rose is quite the invigorating charmer. Domaine Poli is a small 7½ acre estate owned by Eric Poli who along with his brother Antoine made stellar wines at his family Domaine Piana.
Made with 100% Nielluciu and directly pressed, this pink wine is a snortload of scent! Captivating aromas of flowers, currant, citrus and seashells provide lots of dance from the glass, but also show impressive depth and intensity. Peppy and vivacious yet with palate-staining qualities along with inconspicuous ginger-spice tones that are woven-in nicely and extend to the suave, stand-up finish. This is absolutely sexy juice for the adventurous wine drinker who is willing to uncork their minds and palates. Exquisite with swordfish or albacore tuna.

We love Txakoli Rose around here. We have religiously featured Ameztoi’s for many years and still adore it but we can never get enough, hence the faucet for this type of wine always closed off. Until now. Pretty much given up looking for another to compliment Ameztoi, it was quite a lovely surprise to have tasted this particular offering. Grown in the Atlantic region of the Basque Country, Arbako Txakolina, Bizkaiko Txakolina, and Getaraiko Txakolina are the Denominacions that are home to some of Spain's most unique and flavorful wines and this frothy new favorite comes from Getaraiko, a region whose hills overlook San Sebastien and are some of the most picturesque vineyard views in the world.
A 50/50 blend of Hondarribi Zura and Hondarribi Beltza this bone-dry pink wine sees 3 or so hours on the skins before it is pressed off. Very, very dry with aromas and flavors that reflect the clay/sandy soils with subtle tones of red fruit and citrus. In the mouth, it is a genius roller coaster ride with lively, vivid, super-soaring tones that cry out for shellfish. A spirited Rose that pairs well with food but can be thrown down in ludicrous quantities.
