2015 DIVISION WINEMAKING CO.
PINOT NOIR 'UN'
$23.99 BTL./$287.88 CASE

One of our current favorites is Division Winemaking Company, an urban Oregon winery located in the SE Wine Collective in Southeast Portland. Tom Monroe & Kate Norris are fashioning wines that are true to their Willamette Valley roots and are not overblown Zin wannabes.

The Un (one) cuvee is stylish and delicious juice. As is the norm, Division’s Un Pinot Noir is from a blend of barrels and sites. However, there is a good portion of Eola Hills material in the blend. Upon pouring, this alluring number gushes from the glass with lively violet, plum and Christmas spices leap that mingle with underlying earth and tea-smoke all carrying over to a fleshy, over-delivering texture. Develops spine and stand-up notes on the open-armed finish. Enjoy this excellent Oregon Pinot over the next 5-6 years.

2016 DIVISION-VILLAGES GAMAY NOIR
'LES PETITS FERS'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

The Division-Villages Gamay is a blend of fruit from the Eola-Amity and Umpqua appellations and is an instant hit, especially as a red served on a warm day!

Fragrant and attention-grabbing aromas of strawberries with mineral and subtle notes of tarragon; bright, layered peppery fruit and herbs make a wine that's refreshing but worthy of more attention than just casual sipping due to its vibrant, palate-covering texture that can best be described as a miracle in the mouth! Drink this enticing red with roasted chicken that has been laced with mushrooms - preferably morels!

2016 DIVISION-VILLAGES CHENIN BLANC
'L'ISLE VERT'
$19.99 BTL./$239.88 CASE

Tom & Kate produce wines that are reflective of their Oregon roots. However, there is a definitive nod to the couple's French training, especially with the wines in the Division-Villages folder. These encompass grapes and inspirations of where they have spent time learning and especially drinking in France, specifically the Loire Valley and Beaujolais.

The 2016 Chenin Blanc is one of the coolest wines that we will taste today! Coming from the Willard Vineyard in the Columbia Valley and from 35-year-old vines, this is an absolute roller coaster of a white wine and falls into the ABC category, anything but Chardonnay. A dry and jaunting white wine chock full of explosive quince notes that dominate the nose, but expressive sense of origin allows the minerality and savory herbs to show through as well. Very ethereal and unrelenting, the texture that is linear and buffered by brilliant, rapier acidity along with an underbelly of lime and mandarin fruit and the vinous finish seems to go on for days. Racy, tense and zingy this wine is a mouthwatering match with smoked salmon, mussels and goat cheese.

2016 DIVISION-VILLAGES GAMAY ROSE
'L'AVOIRON'
$16.99 BTL./$203.88 CASE

Again, from Yakima Valley’s Willard Vineyard this is a Rose with some teeth to it! Both under the Division Wine Company or Division-Villages moniker, Rose is a specialty for Tom & Kate and they produce some of the best versions in the Northwest.

Falling into the toss-it-back category, the best thing about this Oregon Rose is that it is NOT from Pinot Noir. 100% Gamay and 100% detonating on the nose and the palate, it is a mouthful of ‘yum!' with smoke, subtle spice and strawberry-watermelon notes jumping from the glass and propelling into a livewire, lip-smacking texture that shows itself to be both a regal and serious Rose that is more than just for slamming back. Great to take to the table, this blazing pink wine is perfect fodder with grilled tombo tuna, grilled salmon, jazz, bebop, hip-hop, metal or stoner music and headphones.
